Which Material of Air Pipe Is Most Resistant to High Pressure for Industrial Use?

The aluminum alloy air pipe is a lightweight option for industrial high-pressure applications that is also durable and does not compromise on the strength needed to withstand high pressure. With the 6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy Air Pipe by Jufang Pipes boasting a 310 MPa tensile strength, it can handle 20 MPa air pressure, which is ideal for medium to high pressure systems commonly found in electronics assembly plants. It is 60% lighter than the carbon steel air pipe, which makes it more manageable and helps to decrease the structural load on the factory building. A semiconductor facility that uses Jufang’s aluminum alloy air pipe for the cleanroom compressed air systems reported that the lightweight construction design improved performance under 15 MPa pressure and reduced installation times by 40%. The aluminum alloy air pipe develops a natural corrosion inhibiting oxide layer, but for pressures above 22 MPa it is not recommended. It is perfect for weight-reduced focused industries such as electronics, aerospace (non-sensitive parts), and precision instrument manufacturing.

FRP Air Pipe: High Pressure Non-Metallic Option

With high-pressure fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) air pipes, companies can avoid using metal for construction as the FRP pipes provide great high-pressure resistance. This is ideal for industries that avoid the use of metal due to electrical conductivity and corrosion.

The FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) air pipes manufactured by Jufang Pipes are constructed by glass fibers and resins (epoxy and vinyl) are layered and wound. The pipes display pressure resilience of 18 to 22 MPa. Jufang’s FRP air pipes are used on high-pressure aeration systems in water treatment plants and these pipes were reported to withstand pressured of 16 MPa and chemical corrosion as incurred from wastewater. The FRP air pipes also possess good insulation which safety renders them near electrical equipment. Although the pressure resistance of FRP air pipes is lower than that of metal air pipes, FRP air pipes are 40% lighter than carbon steel, and are cheaper than stainless steel. Therefore, FRP air pipes are recommended in water treatment, chemical processing and power generation industries. These industries require pipes that are high pressure non metallic and corrosion resistant.

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) air pipes are also manufactured by Jufang Pipes and are used in industrial settings for applications up to 12 MPa. Jufang Pipes HDPE air pipes are made of PE100-grade material which provides high impact resistance and offers enhanced flexibility which allows the material to absorb small vibrations without breaking.

A logistics warehouse implementing Jufang’s HDPE pneumatic conveyor system pneumatic pipes reported the pipes operated stably at and up to 8 Mpa and that installation was easy because of the pipes’ flexibility and ability to bend a little to fit irregular layouts. Also, the non-coated HDPE pipes were less expensive to maintain because of corrosion resistance. Jufang’s HDPE air pipes lower temp. resistance and lower max. press. limitations do not make it appropriate for certain industries (i.e. those with higher press. air comps. to work with) but it is suited for logistics, packaging, and light manufacturing.

Tailored Air Pipe Solutions for Targeted High-Pressure Needs found at Jufang Pipes.

To streamline and match specific industrial high pressure air needs, Jufang Pipes custom built air pipes to ensure compatibility.  For industries where ultra high pressure is a requirement (30 Mpa++), Jufang custom built air pipes that incorporate alloy-steel composite air pipes that withstand 35 Mpa. The hybrid air pipes Jufang custom built for in the mixed-need industries (High pressure and Low weight) contain an airplane friendly aluminum alloy and stainless steel joints. One of the custom jobs Jufang did for a heavy machinery manufacturer was a 28 Mpa carbon steel air pipe with reinforced flanges which was a perfect match for the hydraulic systems of considerable scale.

Before shipping each batch of air pipes, Jufang supplies certificates of pressure testing, confirming verification of pressure resistance. Jufang customizes air pipes materials and designs according to each client's industry and pressure requirements, building air pipes that provide dependable and durable high pressure performance.
